Patti:
I am a professor at the Cornell Hotel School. I purchased and read your book, "Gratuity Ingenuity", last week. First, let me say that I found your book both informative and enjoyable to read. Also, I agree with almost every suggestion you make about how to increase tips.
May I suggest that you add a picture of yourself to your web site. Letting people see what you look like should make them feel more comfortable buying from you! Again, thanks for sharing your experiences and advice!
Regards,

Hello!,
I just want to say thank you for this information you have shared! I work as a server at the (^%$^%$^%$^$). The (^%$^%$^%$^$)is a steakhouse franchise in the midwest primarily in Minnesota, however some stores are in states bordering Minnesota such as Sioux Falls. Last night (Aug. 1) I had an uncommon, difficult night serving. It seemed no matter how hard I tried I couldn't even pull in 15%. Disgusted and distressed at the end of the night, I went home and looked up ways to increase gratutity on a search engine. I came across your website and was skeptical at first. But, after reading some of the testimonials I decided to spend the $20 and purcahse your ebook. I am so glad I did! I read the ebook and wrote down all the essential information. I tucked that information inside my payment folder and was determined to try your "stuff". Well, today at lunch I made $68 on $322 total sales. That is more than 21% gratuity. I classified all my tables as either Dutch and Duchesses (had none of those), 2nd cousins, and frick and fracks. I followed the guidelines for each type and viola! I made some good money! I work the dinner shift tonight again and hope to have the same good fortune. Once again, I want to say THANK YOU for making me money!
Yours truly,
Travis J. ..(email on file)

Thanks for bringing into awareness some of the things I was already doing more than doubled my tips. Am a part time bartender and have implemented the techniques for one shift, went from $50 to $123.
Like make my day.
And thanks for the day 8 tip.
Yep, beyond expectations.
Sincerely,

Dear patti
I thank you so much for the book, it's great i'm so happy. I was searching the web for information two weeks ago and your cite appeared. What a blessing. I think I might buy 15 copies to offer them to the good servers, bartenders and managers i know.
Thanks again,

I bought your ebook yesterday and read through it but mostly I was thinking I already do that, I already don't do that (my average tip percent for an evening is usually 19.5 - 23%) so I was thinking that I would go ahead and ask for my money back because although I was happy to get confirmation that i was doing most things right, I was really looking for more of a 'serve from the right, clear from the left' kind of book BUT last night at work there was that woman that always tips $1 and it ALWAYS bothers me, but I remembered what you said.....(and what to do about it!) .............. (she's really old, maybe she thinks that $1 is a good tip, I dunno). So, I continue to serve my other tables the way I normally do but maybe a little more exuberant because your book confirmed that I am doing most things right........ then it happened ..... I got a $20 tip on a $50 check. Fluke? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, you can keep the $20 and I'm going to keep the book.
Thanks.

I worked 4-close just last night (around 1am I got off). i just finished reading your ebook & then i started work. The past 3 Friday nights i did not make over $100, i made around $80-$90 for 3 weeks straight. Then last night, when i averaged the same amount of tables, i mad $110!!! Thank you so much! Just think: if just got done reading your book and made that much of an increase in that little amount of time, i can't wait to see how much i will start pulling in when it all starts to sink in!!
Thanks Again!

Hi Patti
Thank you so much for your book. I really enjoyed it and it was a good reminder of some things that I have been slacking at. Your best advice is your first one about going to the (&%^$*^&&^&^), I was thrilled with your book and daily tips and I thank you for them.
Sincerly,

Hi Patti
I bought your book about a month ago and I read it and I just read it again. It's like homework. I will read the tips at least once a week. It really makes a HUGE difference.
Thank you,

Dear Patti,
I purchased your e-book. I was saved by your e-book. I learned more about waitressing than I had know previous. Many many many years ago I worked as the counter girl, at a Howard Johnsons restaurant. I had little experience in the food industry but realized even then, that it took a certain personality type to be able to wait tables.
Thanks again.
I sincerely appreciate the job that waitresses have to do.......it is not a job for air-heads by any means.
Sincerely,

I worked in the corporate world for many years. When I walked away from it, I found I really missed working but didn't want to go back to sitting behind a desk. So I spent the last four years waiting tables for the first time in my life. It was the most incredibly rewarding experience. I just recently (one month ago) legitimately retired. My daughter is still a server (she started working in a restaurant at 16 as a hostess, she started serving at 18, and is now 22), so I ordered your tips for her. Your tips are great. Servers and bartenders would benefit from the information you present. I will definitely recommend your site to the servers I know who are looking to increase their level of service. Keep up the good work. Thanks for your commitment to an often thankless profession.
Sincerely,

Dear Patti
..the least I can do is write a glowing testimonial for you. I used to make about $45 per shift, after reading your guide I now average $95 per shift. I hate thinking of the money I lost by not knowing this simple information before. Thanks.. .

Good Morning, Patti!
I read the entire ebook this weekend, got it saved okay this time (by computer genius boyfriend helped me).
I did get a lot out of it. Does that make sense? I guess I have always done a majority of the things that you talk about, but I never acutally put names to the customers or actions and what not. You did a great job when putting all of this down into words. I got a better understanding of waitressing as a whole. I do have a good story that happened recently (before I started getting your bonus tips). One night I was very busy and this one table I had had waited for an hour and a half before they could sit down. Needless to say, the dominant male was very crabby and when I said hello to the table (I was very prompt when they sat down) and asked how they were all doing, the guy said, "Not very pleased so far." I said, "Well, I am very sorry to hear that, but I am very busy and don't have time for an attitude. You will get good service, I promise you." He left me a $10 bill (not 10 ones, either). I love that story because I never stand up to people like that.
Happy waitressing, Patti!
And thank you for the ebook! It is a job well done.

Patti:
I am 38, been working in the legal field for 18 years, recently as a Paralegal for (^%$^%#) until one week ago. Do not know if you are familiar with the recent events with (^%$^%$#^%#); however, I decided to get out of the legal field and make a career change. We have a sports bar (Buffalo Wild Wings) that opened in ($%#$%#$) a few months ago...the most TRENDY place for everyone to go in town. For the first time in my life, I wanted to be a cocktail waitress!! Why, because I knew I could be the best at it if given the opportunity and the knowledge. Being a Paralegal all of my life, the first thing I knew I had to do was research, research, research...because if I was going to do, I want to be the best in town. I love people and I love to see them laughing and smiling. I have worked four nights now, the first two in training and the second on my own. I received your ebook two days ago....only had time to read a third...which I read over and over...last night I used a lot of your techniques. Since I am new, I am in training my section is the dining room, which usually does not have servers. Buffalos is a sports bar and MOST ppl are in the bar! I closed out at $309.00 and my tips totaled $85.00. I noticed a difference in the ppl I was serving once I made the (--some of the secret art tips). As for observing the three type of ppl...you are so correct! Once I read that article, I instantly related to the night before. I am excited to finich reading your documentation as well as staring over and reading it on a weekly basis! The girls in the bar are making $250 on a slow night in tips and between $300 to $450 on weekends.... and now I'll do even better
Thank you!!

Today's Short Tip on Tips!
(new one everyday!)

Try to avoid handling money and change in front of your customers.
Some customers are repulsed by their server handling dirty money and serving them too. Use tip trays or folio booklets to deliver change to your customers.
