Tricks Of Bartending

(No fire or baton twirling)

tricks of bartending

He's a few tricks of bartending. By the way, I'm never spun or twirled bottles or learned to breath fire. Those things are great for entertaining but I was more interested in making money.

Here are a few "tricks" I picked up over the years.

  • if you are working in a place that still allows smoking tape a lighter to the opposite side of your opener
  • keep your liqueurs chilled.
  • Ask your customer if they want another drink (and KNOW the name of their drink), when their glass is still 1/3 full.
  • Never give change back in big bills only, allows have at least a dollar in change and some singles to allow for a healthy tip!
  • When a couple approaches your bar, make sure you make direct eye contact and address the member of your same sex first. It is very important!
These are just a few tricks of bartending that will help you make more money. I found that the whole bottle throwing thing ended up taking too much time. It's a real financial set back when you drop a bottle while twirling it and end up paying the bar for the entire bottle.

I made more money by concentrating on serving more customers with just the subtle trick of bartending
