I get many emails from disgruntled staff around the world inquiring as to why they should tip out to other employees, is common to do so, should they find a new place to work that doesn’t have tip out?
I understand how they feel. They work hard for their tips and don’t feel obligated to share them.
Let’s look at the other side of the coin.
If tipping out the kitchen staff an extra five bucks at the end of the night motivates them to hustle your food out quicker, have it look proper is it worth the $5 tip out? If your food is getting to your customers quickly, looking great and is piping hot, you will have very happy customers and your tips will reflect that. If you tip the hostess or busser a couple of extra bucks, your tables SHOULD be kept clean and full.
Now, if you are tipping out your support staff and not getting support, then I have a problem with that. If that occurs I suggest you sit down with management, or the support staff, and mention that you don’t think you are getting the level of professionalism and support you expected if you are tipping out.
I am not suggesting you tip out everybody and their brother, be smart about it and learn who helps you job the most and look after them. It should help YOUR tips!
You can actually make MORE money by working in a system where the support staff is encouraged to help you through your tipping out.

I am without a doubt the best waiter in the busiest restaurant in my city in
UK, I was therefore dubious about how much your e-book could actually affect
me. Being a professional waiter, and building my own restaurant, I felt
obligated to purchase the e-book and I was delighted. I skimmed through the
information before work, and that very night I made over £100 in tips, -
around $200 worth. Any waiter or restaurant owner who doesn't buy this book
is costing themselves money!
