The benefits of the tipping system can be huge for both the server and the customer.
If the customer is basing their gratuity on the level of service the server needs to pay attention to the customers needs. Imagine the level of bad service a customer would receive if some servers got paid only a salary and weren’t accountable to the customer!
Although the server must go above and beyond to server their customers BECAUSE of the tipping system, it allows a motivated individual the opportunity to determine their own income. For example, if you work in a factory and get paid by the hour you make $20 per hour whether you work really hard, or slack off.
The benefit of the tipping system allows the server to make much more if you know how to be the best in your establishment. By using simple techniques and always following them and perfecting them you can make large tips. Most servers don't realize the benefits of the tipping system and never profit from them.
You are able to make as much money as you want by being GREAT at your job. Customers should tip 20%, but can tip more. If you follow certain proven techniques, and work in the right place you can make $50,000+ in TIPS in a year. A select few make double that!
Accountability to the customer and the ability of the worker to write their own paycheck are major benefits of the tipping system.
It's amazing how FEW servers actually take the time to learn a few simple methods that would explode their income while working the same shifts!
